Black Point, Exuma

Before Leaving Staniel Cay, we topped off the diesel, dinghy gas and water. We had a quick cruise to Black Point but with lots of shallow water all eyes were on deck.

First order of business in Black Point was laundry! Packed up two duffel bags and dinghy’d over to the ‘laundry dock.’ Being low tide, it was a bit of a climb up to get to the laundry facility. Best facility we’ve come across, so clean, with 12 washers and 8 dryers. Most of our flotilla did laundry at the same time. The facility also has a covered dock with benches, so a nice place to sit and wait, socialize and look out at pristine, blue water! After all the clean skivvies were returned to the boat, we headed to lunch at Lorraine’s High Tide Cafe just next door.

A memorable story from Black Point will be buying bread from Lorraine’s mom! We had to find her house, knock on the door and she invited us into her kitchen. Loafs of fresh baked bread sits on the counter and we picked cinnamon. Her kitchen was tiny, 50ish eclectic with an industrial mixer on a wooden stand in the middle of floor. The bread, YUMMY!

We were so excited to catch up with Second Best! A great afternoon was had on Three Sons chatting and swapping stories while Marley took a little nap.

Dinner at the pizza place, Deshamon Restaurant and Bar with 5 Looper boats. Had a bit of a dance party at the end of the night. Good times!

Day 2 at Black Point started with some chores and rest on Three Sons. We spent the afternoon hanging on the sand bar with a bunch of other cruisers. We ended the night with Three Sons hosted boattails for four boats.

In the morning, we headed over to the Nisimo’s Blow Hole at high tide before we left for our next destination. Being Valentine’s Day, Bob and I sported our red AGLCA shirts. Enjoyed waiting for the blow hole to blow and trying not to get sprayed! We hiked to the top of the limestone cliff. Stunning aqua, blue waters surrounded us.
