Leaving Kent Narrows, and heading South, we needed to deal with currents, shallows and time the opening of Bridge 50 – 301 Bridge. All went well, and we cruised under the bridge to a beautiful sunrise. To say the Chesapeake Bay was still would be an understatement. The bay was like glass and the weather was bright and sunny. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Pax River, MD and Deltaville, VA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our intention was to head over to Solomon’s Island, but our destination did not have any open slips so we found a marina at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station and they had a transient slip for us. There was not much there but it was a beautiful dock, quiet and peaceful. We gave Three Sons a good washing and took a long walk so Bob could get a haircut at NEX. The next morning we headed to Deltaville, VA where we dropped the anchor for the night. We have anchored here before, but wanted to return remembering the unbelievable sunrise. Where the creek opens to the bay gives the illusion of the end of the earth and provides spectacular sights. Mother Nature did not disappoint! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yorktown, VA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Yorktown, VA was about an hour off the Chesapeake Bay but we are so glad we made the detour and stopped. The town is filled with history, beautiful flower beds and landscape that are impeccably well maintained, a plethora of restaurants and shops, and even has a beautiful little beach. Touring the town and learning about the American Revolution was easy using the Yorktown Tour Guide App. Using this quite impressive app’s GPS enabled audio tour as a guide, we walked the Historical Yorktown Tour and biked the Yorktown Battlefield Tour and the Allied Encampment Tour. These two tours described the history of events at Yorktown where Washington led the French and Colonists troops to victory over Cornwallis which led to the end of the revolutionary war. Along with the battlefield, we biked to the American Revolution Museum. This museum far exceed our expectations, it could be put in a class with Disney quality. We ended out stay in Yorktown with a Rhythms on the Riverfront Concert featuring a local band County Boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
