Our short cruise to Titusville was quite enjoyable. The weather was perfect and the route was filled with wildlife and beautiful scenery. Our travels took us through Haulover Canal, which is a one mile, man made canal that connects Mosquito Lagoon to Indian River.

The landscape was peculiar, very narrow and straight with small openings on each end, resembling an airstrip. The canal was a flurry of activity with all sorts of boats and fisherman. Also, it is a haven for wildlife, the camera was busy with so many birds, manatees and supposedly alligators which we did not see.

Our stay in Titusville was broken up with a trip to Dallas to meet Jacob and Pepper Mae for Thanksgiving. We did have two days on each end that we used to do chores and get ready for the holiday. Once we explored transport to the Orlando airport, about 40 minutes away, we discovered renting a car would be cheaper. This also allowed us some flexibility to shop and provision. We hit WInn Dixie, Pulbix, Target, Walmart, Marshalls, Home Depot, and Dunkin Donuts – twice!

When we pulled into our slip, we were so excited to see Second Best docked next to us. We met Linda and Jerry in Cape May and have spent some time with them in various ports. Knowing we enjoy breweries, they were ready to make the short walk to Playalinda Brewery in downtown Titusville. Without a doubt, some of the best beer on the East Coast and so many creatively flavored ales and stouts. With such an interesting variety, more than one flight needed to be sampled. After the sampling of sweet beers, we walked down the street to find some dinner. Cafe Paradiso Bistro and Social Club was just a few doors down. The ladies sitting outside the Whiskey Bar next door told us “Ya, I eat there!” Oh, my what a find, so happy with their recommendation! Bob had Unicorn Fish and I tried Gumboyala, a mixture of Gumbo and Jambalaya. The food and decor felt like we were in New Orleans and our waitress was just a hoot! To top off the evening, we shared an absinthe experience. Due to the amount of work to prepare, it is only something they do on weekends. Jerry was convincing, with the help of some cash, to pursued the bar tender to make it for us. It was definitely an experience. A fabulous night with some great people.

Playalinda Brewing Company had the most amazing beers flavors and names. Along with the flavors above, some other tried were, Fluff Porter, No Lunch Money, Whiskey Go Big, Mocha Java Mint Stout, Key Lime Slice and Playa IPA.
Birthday Cake Ale complete with frosting and sprinkles!
Toast to Second Best. A major bonus on this trip is the folks you meet. Good, fun peeps here!
What a surprise we found when we returned to the boat one night. Apparently, Exodus, the boat with the dingy issue was in the same marina and left us a thank you. We tried to find them in the morning but they left before we were up. We did mange to find them on social media and thank the budding young artist.
With access to a car, we started to think about provisioning for the Bahamas. For what folks have told us and what we read, you need to bring stock the boat with as much as possible. The cost of food, beer, health and beauty, paper goods is three to four times what you would pay in the states.
Along with lots of provisioning, we got some Christmas decorations for Three Sons!
Three Sons’ V-berth has earned a 5 STAR rating! Visitors will be flocking for a stay, so book early! Thanks Vaccari’s.
