We decided to treat ourselves in Montebello and got a slip at the marina at The Fairmont Le Château. This resort is described as a ‘true Canadian experience” for its rustic charm, unique architecture and beautiful natural surroundings. In the middle of the resort is the world’s largest log cabin which surrounds beautiful grounds with 40 unique activities and experiences.
Before pulling into the marina, we traveled 8 hours/48 miles with wind in our face and against the current but sunny skies. Also, we were raised 65 feet at the Carrillon Lock which has a guillotine gate. The college student lock masters were a joy to chat with as they stood on the floating dock we were tied to that floated up with us. We also traversed from the Quebec to Ontario Province. A little less French, but most locals were bilingual and a little happier to speak English; not so much in Montreal.
