The cruise to Lovesick was gorgeous and to spend an overnight in this unique place was truly enjoyable.

July 25, 2024 – Lakefield to Lovesick, 14 Nautical Miles

One of the most picturesque places we have stayed over night was Lovesick Lock wall. Lock 30 is located on an island, and therefore only accessible by boat. The natural beauty of the setting and island seclusion made for a wonderful overnight spot.

The Legend of Lovesick
A isolated island with a Little Free Library!
Interesting old school damn design. These Timbers are added and removed to manage the water level behind the damn. A crane rides on the rails to center over the damn section and adds or removes the timbers.

While walking through the woods, we stumbled across Heritage Canoe Trail. On our way back, a few locals were cutting weeds around the trail. They said, they clean it our once a year and the rail system is used by many canoers to skirt the dam and lock.

Lovesick Lock only hold two boats and we were joined by a sailing vessel, Spirit. They were not loopers but just enjoying some cruising time. They had sailed around the world so we enjoyed chatting with them about boating adventures and sharing smores.
