WOW! It was a chilly 62 degrees when we woke up and left Little Current but we were more than happy to wear warm clothing and get out of dodge, or should I say current! We traveled 16 miles in about 2 1/2 hours arriving at the Benjamin Islands around 9:20.
Traveling in the North Channel, which is on the north shore of Lake Huron, is such a remote location. Talking to a friend last night someone asked the difference between 1000 Islands and North Channel and he said about 2 million people. It is truly amazing how desolate of an area it is, with just natural beauty covered only by tress and granite. It is bounded on the south by the Manitoulin Islands which are the largest freshwater islands in the world. When we first arrived in the Benjamins, it was windy and cloudy. We became awestruck has the clouds disappeared and sun glistened off the pink granite. The brilliance of the pink granite far surpassed anything we have seen thus far.
Benjamin Islands in the very remote area of Ontario, Canada was a real treat We spent time exploring the granite rock islands by dinghy and hiking, mixed in with a little swimming and relaxing.
