We are trying to slow our roll to Florida due to the damage by Hurricane Milton and Helene. So, even though we just got back for a road trip, we impulsively planned more time away from the boat to visit Dartmouth and Oklahoma! It has been a while since we have been home and a visit was needed.
After lots of research and learning geography, we devised a plan to leave the boat at Pebble Isle Marina in Old Johnson, Tennessee, rent a car from Paris, Tennessee and drive to Nashville to fly to Boston! We made these plans on Tuesday and left on Friday. It was quite a puzzle to assemble to get from point A to point B.
We needed to rent a car for the one hour drive from the marina to the airport, so we decided to make a day of it. (Pebble Isle Marina had a curtesy car that we borrowed to drive back to Paris and pick up our car rental.) Our first stop was Lorretta Lynne Ranch. We are not fans and know only the basic facts about Lorretta Lynn but decided to take a tour of her ranch. We were not disappointed, her story was very interesting and involves so many famous folks and politicians. As we toured the Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum, we learned everything from Loretta’s simple mountain life in Butcher Holler, KY to the rise of stardom and building of her legacy in Hurricane Mills, TN. Her legendary career and life are preserved in a 18,000 square foot building that is packed with her awards and honors, dresses, records, personal letters and many of her children’s belongings. Her grandchildren still live on her ranch and help to care for the property.

Our second stop before the airport was in Nashville. Two weeks ago we stopped in Nashville and spent time on Broadway, so this quick visit we toured the Gulch Neighborhood and has lunch at a highly rated BBQ joint. A great afternoon!

Dartmouth, MA
We had a fabulous 4 days visiting all our peeps and family! We have said it many times but the biggest negative of the trip is missing family and friends! Some how, we had so much fun catching up with so many peeps, we only took a few pictures!

Ada, OK
Leaving Dartmouth we flew to Dallas, rented another car and drove to Ada, OK. We finally got to check out Jacob’s new home and cat, Bugs! We enjoyed helping him with some projects around the house and playing with Pepper Mae and Bugs.

Memphis and Back to Three Sons
Leaving Ada, our plan was to break up the 614 mile drive by stopping in Memphis for a few nights. Since the weather prediction was rain, rain and more rain and hotels were super expensive, we decided to stop for lunch/dinner and give it a quick check out. Well, we loved the place and it is a definitely need to return! For this year, our walk through between downpours and sprinkles and dinner at B.B. Kings was enough.
