A super fun week playing tourist and a visit from Zach!
From Fort Meyers Beach, we ventured back into the Gulf to Marco Island for another quick stop. The next day, we left Marco Island in the dark to have enough time to get to Marathon in the light. The weather was not on our side but was predicted to calm down as the day went on. We had multiple points of bail out identified depending on what Mother Nature decided to throw at us. Luckily, things went as predicted and we made the long haul arriving at the 15th Street Marina in Marathon just after sunset.
We made the journey with Ship Faced and radio chatter was constant regarding dodging crap pots! Who knew that many crabs were in the Gulf, it is just crazy. There is no rhyme or reason to how they are placed or the colors or the buoys. Really small black buoys, they can not be seen until you on top of them. Unfortunately, we did run over one. We have traveled over 10,000 Nautical Miles avoiding pots and in the last week snagged two, ugh! Captain Bob decided to stop and put the engines in reverse. We did see a small line shoot out, but being unsure if we got it all untangled, we hired a diver in Marathon. A small fee to to have piece of mind that no line was tangled on the props.

Without a doubt the best part of our Marathon stop was that Zach flew down for a few days! Such joy to see him pull into the marina. The other good part of our stop was we reconnected with our boat buddies Sweet Equity. We spent a week in Marathon playing tourist with Zach and our boat buddies, visiting touristy spots, trying tons of new restaurants, and spending way too much time tracking our package! The other treat for this visit was WARM weather. This was the first time since November that we could go back to shorts and short sleeves.
