Our time in the Bahamas is coming to an end! With the prediction of good weather to cross the Atlantic to Florida, we started making our way over to the western part of the Bahamas.
Where, When and How — The Stats
Leg 1: Saturday, April 12, 2025 :Green Turtle Cay to anchorage at Sale Cay via 57.5 NM/7.5 hours via Sea of Abaco to the Little Bahama Bank
Strong Winds and Currents – The Not So Good
- Wind driven waves made for chop and a very bouncy ride. Three Sons was coated in a thick salty film from all the splash.
Calm Seas and Sunshine – The Good
- We enjoyed a calm anchorage and delicious dinner on board. After dinner entertainment included a rocket launch even seeing the capsule deploy and fall back

Leg 2: Sunday, April 13, 2025 : Anchorage at Sale Cay to Old Bahama Bay Resort on Grand Bahama Island via the Little Bahama Bank 54 NM/7hours
Strong Winds and Currents – The Not So Good
- Regret of not stopping the boat and going for a swim!
- The last few miles shallow waters, amazing how no land in sight but depths of under 6 feet
Calm Seas and Sunshine – The Good
- One of the most beautiful cruising days: gorgeous, crystal clear cerulean water, no wind, cloudless blue skies, perfect mid 70 temperatures, no land in sight just endless water running into the sky.
- A calm passage through Indian Rock Passage, a stark difference from last year!
- A wonderful evening and dinner at Old Bahama Bay with Chris and Tina.

Day 3: Monday, April 14, 2025: Old Bahama Bay Resort
The prediction was calling for both Monday and Tuesday looking like a great day to cruise back to Florida. We decided to enjoy one more day in the Bahamas and pick Tuesday as our day to cross back to the USA. We spent the day washing the boat, preparing to enter the USA, a bike ride over to Sea Shell Beach and some time by the pool. Our last day in the Bahamas was definitely a day to feel blessed.
