Who knew a Potato Festival!
Our plan leaving Belhaven was to anchor for a night and then head across the Albemarle Sound to Elizabeth City. Our cruise went well and we were going to get to our anchorage early. In checking the weather for the conditions on the Albemarle Sound we learned it was nicer currently then the next day. Just a little nicer but why not keep going!
The trek across the sound was bumpy and did not get better like we had hoped but we have had worse. We were in communication with Second Best who were docked at Elizabeth City so we knew we had options for free dockage! Settled into the dock behind Jeanette Bros with Into the Mystic, we set off exploring. The first adventure was getting out of the locked gates! We were locked inside the company lot. Smooth detective work, collaboration, and remembering their secrets from our last visit, we were able to get out.

We walked around the booths at the Potato Festival and made our way over to Second Best to make dinner plans. Burritos and a brewery visit topped off the evening.
Day 2, we ventured for breakfast our and once again enjoyed the festival activities including a log rolling competition. We missed the Ms. Tater Tots and potato peeling contents. We filled the day with more shopping, a jeep exhibit, docktails and dinner with Jerry and Linda and Gypsie. We were disappointed to miss the Albemarle Museum but they are closed on Sundays.
