We decided on a quick visit at Marsh Harbor in order to stay ahead of a storm that was coming our way. Since reviews and word of mouth reports claimed anchoring was quite tight in Marsh Harbor, we chose to dock at Conch Marina and Inn. The marina is family owned by locals and had good reviews and space.
The 8 Nautical Mile cruise across the Sea of Abaco took a little more than an hour. We had to leave Hope Town during the high tide so we arrived in Marsh Harbor about 9:15. Luckily, as we were arriving the boat in our slip was leaving.
Marsh Harbor is on Great Abaco Island and was completely destroyed by Hurricane Dorian. The marina is still not completely rebuilt as they were putting the finishing touches on landscaping during our stay. We were blown away with this newly rebuilt marina and the folks. The docks were high, wide, pristine and the bathrooms earned an over the top rating. The office and facilities were spotless and beautiful. Upon arrival, we were greeted by gracious and competent dock hands. During check in we were giving fresh guava bread and spoke at length to the owner and his daughter. They told their story of survival and rebuilding, clearly they love what they do and the area.
After a delicious breakfast in local restaurant we did a little provisioning in the best grocery store we have seen in 10 weeks! We decided to enjoy the pool marina with Bob’s new specialty homemade drink, Mango Daiquiris and Who Dat. The owner joined us to make sure all was OK and bought us drinks. We closed the day with dinner at Snappers, the marina restaurant.
For some reason, Tracy was off her game and took only 5 pictures all day long.
