After three nights anchored at Chimney Bay we cruised 35 miles to Massasauga Provincial Park. After a failed attempt to anchor in Shotgun Bay, we moved over to Port Rawson Bay. Although this area is similar in landscape to our first stop, it is dense with ‘cottages’ leading to light marina traffic and noise. Actually, Port Pawson Bay has no houses or dwelling of any sort. The only land access is a dingy dock to a ‘boater’s gathering area’ complete with a picnic table and fire ring. The calm, still water, dark, clear skies and absolute quiet made this a prize winning anchorage.
We have been traveling with 4 other loopers and enjoy planning and exploring together. Once we all got our anchors set, a local Canadian dinghyed over to chat with Sweet Equity. Next thing we hear, we have a date for a tour around the area the next morning. At 10:40AM along with Sweet Equity, Ship Faced, and Affection, we all got our dinghies ready and we set off behind Chad, Paul, and his grandson, Aston for a 30 miles tour! Arriving back, at our boats at 5:30 we all agreed we had a fabulous, full day! We climbed Moon River Falls, had lunch at the famous Henry’s, ice cream at Lablanc’s, a gas stop, and took in miles and miles of beautiful landscapes and wildlife. It is a treat to be cruising in fresh water surrounded by evergreens and a granite shoreline.
