Our intention was to visit this area for a day, maybe two. However, with high winds expected and no where to run and hide, we stayed for five day waiting out the remnants of Hurricane Debbie. Since Parry Sound had a lot to offer. we had lots to do and keep ourselves entertained. Even though the bay was windy, with the exception of one day of rain the weather was dry and warm. So we could do lots of exploring—
The highlight was a float plan tour over Perry Sound and the Georgian Bay. We had two cancellations, one due to a mechanical issue and one due to cloud cover, but the third scheduled time was a lift off. The little four seater plane was tiny and rickety at times but the views from1600 feet up were spectacular. When we needed a better view the quote from the pilot was “Oh, there is a kite surfer, let me tip the wings so you get a see bettter.” Surprisingly, 125 miles an hour did not seem super fast and it was steady, well until a gust of wind came.

Testle Brewery was a 10 minute walk from Three Sons and we visited often. It definitely checked all the boxes, cool vibe, great venue, fantastic food and great tasting beer with a good variety.

Legends Distillery was a great find with free samples and lots of innovative drinks. We visited twice, once for a tastings and drinks and the second for outdoor live music and drinks.

Dinner at at DiSalvo’s Bella Cucina with Ship Faced and the best Mushroom Wellington Appetizer!.

A great night of music during Pub Night at the Stockey Centre for Performing Arts and Booby Orr Hall of Fame. The 93 North Band was quite entertaining, performing various genre covers and originals. The venue was built with stones and area trees and had a really different open feeling outdoorsy vibe. The tall ceilings and tables on the floor along with great acoustics was a perfect setting.

Although we should have used more of our idle time to complete some projects, we chose just to do the necessary adulting. Laundry on the boat, provisioning and route planning were the only chores we squeezed in between fun.

Another night of music brought us to St. James United Church for a Led Zeppelin Tribute band. Quite and experience to rock out to Stairway to Heaven under a cross. The band was quite entertaining and the guitarist were amazing musicians each playing multiple instruments. Prior to heading to the concert, along with Sweet Equity, Affection, and Ship Faced we sampled wines at the local Wine Bar.

Although we could have found an easier way up instead of through the woods, the trip to Fire Tower Observation Point and West Parry Sound District Museum was worth the hike.

Not sure if it was a wake or the winds but Three Sons ripped a cleat out of the dock. We have no idea how we did not hit the the boat docked next to us. Luckily, we noticed it in time and although it was tricky we were able to pull Three Sons back to the dock and tie off on another cleat.

Finally! The down time gave Tracy a chance to dig out the Cricut Joy and use the drift wood from the Bahamas!

With all the bad weather, lots of loopers docked in Parry Sound for safe place to ride out the winds. It is always fun to chat with other loopers and enjoy docktails with shared stories and drinks

Not a planned 5 day stop but definetly lots of fun!
