After pulling up anchor from Miles Hammock Bay we cruised for 38NM – 5 hours and 15 minutes to Beaufort, NC. Upon pulling into our slip, we were greeted by a friendly couple very interested in our boat. They told us that they used to have one just like it – well, to everyone’s surprise it was their boat! They sold it about 7 years ago, and hadn’t seen it since. We ended up inviting them to see their old boat and share some stories about all the places they took the boat. We also joined them on their new boat, another Grand Banks with the same name as Three Sons had before we bought her – “Mon Ami”. The boating community is certainly a small group! That night we enjoyed some docktails with other loopers at the Tiki Bar at Town Creek Marina.

The next morning, our first visitor, Cousin Mark, joined us. Mark and Beth live close by and although Beth could join us this time, Mark was able to squeeze a few days off to cruise with us through NC. Mark’s local knowledge of the NC waterways was super useful to understand the sounds and river systems. He boarded in Beaufort, NC and cruised with us to Hoboken, NC when we docked for the night at RE Mayo Seafood. Unfortunately there wasn’t much time for fishing as we continued our press north. The next morning he continued with us as we cruised to Belhaven, NC where Mark joined us for some social time with fellow boaters at Jack’s Tavern before heading back home (via car).

They loved Three Sons, when it was theirs (Mon Ami) as much as we do.
Enjoying telling tales of Three Sons with the former owners.
UGH! No eyeballs in my galley!
