Albemarle Plantation, NC

Sunday, April 23 – Tuesday, April 25, 2023

Leaving Belhaven, we decided to take a side trip to the Inner Banks. This meant a 75NM cruise for 9H 45M traveling on the Pungo River to the Alligator River Pungo Canal, then up the Alligator River under the Alligator River Swing Bridge and finally across the Albermarle Sound. The weather was beautiful for this long cruise and Sound was calm-ish.

We read about the second annual Albemarle Loop and thought it would be interesting to check out. The Albermarle Loop links marinas and waterfront town around the Albemarle Sound and provides boaters and opportunity to cruise and explore the historical Albemarle Sound. After some research, we planned to visit one stop on the loop the Albemarle Plantation. What a beautiful gated community with 500 homes, a golf course, marina, pool, restaurants, lots of activities and the most amazing sunsets. An unusual sight was golf carts being driven on the dock and parked outside of boats. Folks had fishing gear and golf bags in the back of their carts. During a dock and drink event some folks offered us Bamma Mamma that they poured from the back of their golf cart. We fell in love with this place!

Slowly getting some teak work completed!
