Our 2nd Visitor!

A maintenance shutdown at Bittersweet created an impulsive, timely opportunity for Zach to fit in a visit from the cold. Zach left Boston at 18 degrees and arrived to a sunny, yet windy 75 in the Bahamas. Although he got soaked on the bumpy dinghy ride to Three Sons, the warm water seemed to make it all ok.

Our excitement started when we looked up from the deck of Three Sons and saw Zach’s plane approaching the airport in George Town!

Chat N Chill

Zach’s first night was spent at Chat N Chill. They put on a special dinner dance for cruisers with a rotisserie chicken dinner. He got to meet our fellow cruisers and enjoy sun, sand and a beautiful sunset.

A Day Trip on the Dinghy

Off to the Lazy River with fellow boaters, The 10 mile (each way!) dinghy ride was great going there, but words could not describe how wet we got on the way back. A stop at the Man of War sandbar was spectacular. Without a doubt the clearest, bluest water! We beached the dinghies and enjoyed a cocktail while walking around being amazed. We continued in the dingy to the lazy river cut. with Nauti Life. We floated with the current and luckily missed the rocks and being swept into the sound. An amazing spot!

Poker Run

The Cruiser’s Regatta is a week filled with various events where cruisers raise funds to give back to the community/schools/churches. The kick off event is a Poker Run. The Poker Run is intended as an icebreaker where you get to spend the day meeting lots of other cruisers while experiencing the local establishments. Cruisers pay to register their dingy and then ride across and around the harbor visiting 6 establishments collecting cards and enjoying food and drink as you go. We ended up with a pair of pairs which won nothing but we had a wonderful time! In one afternoon, Zach got to visit almost every bar in George Town and Stocking Island.

Da Sand Bar

Relaxing day on Flip Flop Beach and a visit to Da Sand Bar! The only menu item at Da Sand Bar is grilled hot dogs, the best grilled hot dog ever! However, they do have a full bar and a pool table in the sand.

Fish Fry

We were fortunate that the wind relaxed and we were able to take the dinghy across Elizabeth Harbor to the the Fish Fry. We enjoyed a dry ride and delicious dinner at Crusty Crab! The fish fry dingy parking lot is near the sunken tug.

Hike and Lunch at Peace and Plenty

We hiked across Stocking Island and enjoyed a walk along Exuma Sound and then mudslides, beers and lunch at Peace and Plenty.

Brunch

Second Best treated us to a delicious brunch! Did not get a picture of the six of us but Marley made the cut.
