After leaving Deltaville, we took a short trip north to Reedville, VA. This was a perfect trip as we got to see a new town and only needed to travel a few hours as the weather wasn’t predicted to be too good for cruising.

The Bay is considered one of the greatest cruising destinations being 219 miles long and having 11,600 miles of shoreline.

With the weather in Chesapeake Bay being unfriendly for cruisers, we chose a short 12 Nautical Mile trip across the James River stopping in Hampton, VA.

Our last cruise in the Chesapeake Bay was once again, just beautiful! However, flat seas and easy riding came to a screeching halt as we entered Norfolk Harbor. Navigating through Norfolk Harbor requires dodging huge barges, making sense of all the ATON’s and staying out of the channel all while while enjoying the sights of Navy ship and submarines parked.
Read More »Entering the ICW – MM1Leaving Kent Narrows, and heading South, we needed to deal with currents, shallows and time the opening of Bridge 50 – 301 Bridge. All went well, and we cruised under the bridge to a beautiful sunrise. To say the Chesapeake Bay was still would be an understatement. The bay was like glass and the weather was bright and sunny.

Rendezvous, Looper Crawl, Fetch, AGLCA, Locks, Trent Severn and yes, I’m from MA, how could you tell?
Spent two days traveling the swamp! Thank goodness no one was traveling south.
Spent a week exploring the Chesapeake Bay! Barely scratched the surface visiting 4 ports. We are going to move on to get to warmer weather. Plan to spent lots of time here the the Spring.
